Is it possible to learn a foreign language quickly ?

If you already have learnt a foreign language (so, now you speak two languages) it will be easier to learn a third one, and a fourth one, and a fifth one,... Here, I introduce you more than 10 ways to learn a foreign language quickly.

To talk with someone who speaks your target language and who wants to speak your language

The point number one : to talk with someone who speaks your target language and who wants to speak your language. I suggest you to find people that you can speak with : native speakers of the language your want to learn, your target language (the French language for you). Are you american ? Do you want to speak the French language ? I think that the answer is « yes », so I suggest you to find someone who wants to learn the american English, so you can do 1 hour of the English  language and then switch to the French  language for 1 hour.  

Do you want to speak the French language ? So, move to France !

The point number two : if you want to speak the French language, move to France or to a French speaking country ! The best way to learn your target language is to go to a country where your target language is spoken. Do you want to learn the English language ? So, you have to go to an English speaking country. Do you want to learn the Spanish language ? So, you need to go to a spanish speaking country. You will be immerged into the language, it will force you to get new words and to get the habit of seapking the language.

How to pronounce these new words ? Are you able to pronounce these new words ?

The point number three : how to pronounce these new words ? To pronounce the words well it is very important to have a good communication in order to the native speakers understand you well, to be able to communicate easily with the native speakers. I suggest you to not having bad habits, it is going to be difficult to remove them, and it is going to affect your way of communicating. In order to do that I suggest you to use an app on your mobile phone or a specific website on your computer. You can as well ask to the native French speakers to help you with your pronounciation, your accent. It is going to help you to speak the French language step by step, like a native speaker.

The point number four : I suggest you to have a dictionnary with you almsot everytime. You can use a dictionnary app. While speaking you naturally put the words in a context, making a back and forth between the dictionnary and a conversation is very helpful to print the words and the expressions on your mind.

The point number five : I suggest you to repeat a lot. Almost all the app today use the Spaced Repetition System. It is very efficient to put everything from the language, all the informations in your long-term memory.

Listening to audio clips in your target language

The point number six : I suggest you to listen to audio clips in your target language. Listen to your target language (the French language for you) even if you do not understand, it can be very efficient because the brain has to adapt to the rythm and to the sound of your target language, the conjugation and the grammar rules.  

To have a good knowledge of, to be comfortable with the alphabet of your target language

The point number seven : I suggest you to have a good knowledge of, to be comfortable with the alphabet of your target language. You need to know the alphabet if you want to be comfortabe at learning this foreign language (for you is the French language).

You have learnt a lot of conjugation rules and grammar rules to be able to succeed the exams. But studying only conjugation rules and grammar rules could make your motivation weaker, so I suggest you to be more focus on having talks, to be able to talk easily. It will keep the motivation up. The grammar you need to learn to progress, you will learn it step by step.

To take French language courses

The point number nine : I suggest you to take French language courses.To take lessons with a teacher is something I strongly suggest you to do. Your teacher is going to tell you every mistakes you do, that is not the case during the conversations in real life, even if you ask to the person you are talking with to correct what you say. If someone is focused on everything of what you say your progression will be fast.

To have your target language diary

The point number ten : I suggest you to have your target language diary. It is a great way to strongly build up your language skills. I suggest you to take a few time everyday, you can write what you did yesteday or what you did today. It is a good way to print the new informations in your mind and so to improve your target language (the French language for you).

To put the French language on your mobile phone

The point number eleven : to put the French language on your mobile phone. We almost all have a mobile phone and/or a computer that we use everyday, so I suggest you to use it to get more knowledge of your target language (the French language), the language you want to learn. To find efficient ways to get more vocabulary

It means that you need to make association between what you already know and what you want to know (the new language you want to be good at speaking). You can use it for everything in the language : conjugation rules and grammar rules, structure of sentences,...

To make mistakes is part of the journey

The point number thirteen : I suggest you to not refraining you from making mistakes, making mistakes is part of the learning language journey. Say to the people you are talking with (your professor, your language partner,...) that you really want to improve your target language, and tell them to tell you when you are wrong in the language as you can improve it.
