1rst definition
Which has been around for a short time.
Who appeared recently.
Example : Ma voisine a un nouveau vélo, il est bleu. Le vélo qu’elle avait avant était rouge.
My neighbor has a new bike, it is blue. The bike she had before was red.
2nd definition
Original, unpublished. .
Example : Quand on a inventé l’électricité, cela a révolutionné le monde, la découverte de l’électricité a changé notre vie.
When we invented electricity, it revolutionized the world, the discovery of electricity changed our lives.
A cette époque, c’était nouveau, c’était original, inédit.
At that time, it was new, it was original, unpublished.

Who comes after something and replaces it.
Example : Il a trouvé un nouveau travail.

NOUVEAU is a qualifying adjective
-A qualifying adjective is a word that adds to a noun.
He brings to this noun a precision, an information, a characteristic.
Example : J’ai un nouveau bateau.
I have a new boat.
